What is Waiting to Blossom?
Are You Ready? It's Time for Dreams to Bloom.
As flowers begin to flourish and temperatures slowly start to rise (very slowly!) we welcome this beautiful change of season. It's a wonderful time to commit to new ideas, accept one's challenges, and take a leap of faith towards the dreams you desire to flourish and unfold. It is a moment of encouraging the flow of emotions and experiences that come, and being attentive to any struggles and vulnerabilities that may surface.
According to Ayurveda, India's ancient science of health and wellness, as Spring approaches we begin to shed our winter fat and become more attracted to lighter, spicier, and zesty foods. It's important to decrease the amount of wet foods such as dairy, starchy vegetables, heavy oils and replace them with lighter oils, salads, and spicier foods. Of course every body is different, so notice the subtle cues your body is giving you during this time of year to try something new. To really break this down for you, check out this beautiful writing on Spring time and Ayurveda by Banyan Botanicals. And always remember the four basic pillars of health are healthy eating, regular physical activity, mental and emotional balance and restorative sleep. My good friend Jayashree Ramamurthy is a wonderful Ayurvedic Health Consultant and I recommend anyone struggling with chronic health issues to feel free to reach out to her. Here are a few questions/discussions to journal or think about as we approach the freshness of Spring... think of these alone or perhaps welcome a group discussion
with family or friends. Sometimes old behavior and thought patterns might impede our growth towards something new. What am I ready to let go of in order for something fresh to grow in my life? What is it that I desire to grow in my life? This could be a physical, energetic, mental, or emotional goal. Take a few minutes to sit quietly, breathe evenly, and truly ask your inner voice what's calling you. If something new were to grow, what would be required to maintain growth and nurturance of this new seedling? Name at least three things that bring you a feeling of lightheartedness in your life, this could be an activity, individual, or anything that comes to mind. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? What would it take to get you there? List all of the resources, help and time required to achieve this goal.
May we be led from darkness to Light.. From untruth to Truth.. And always remember the Love that binds us.
